Ooh, la, la!!!!

Ooh, la, la! I love summer photos – especially for the holidays.
The birds are chirping. The bees are buzzing. My flowers are in full bloom. It’s summertime – the perfect time to shoot your holiday card. Yes, you heard me. Let’s serve up some summertime sizzle when the holiday season rolls around.

We can get the kids outside with their popsicles and capture their sticky faces. Or how about we shoot some county fairground fun? People love receiving holiday cards that warm their hearts, especially when the forecast calls for frost. Plus, it’s way more fun to take your family photographs outside in summer than to stuff the kiddos in their snowsuits and head out to a studio for the annual mug shot.

What ideas do you have for a fun “summertime” holiday card? Let the brainstorming begin…

Ahhh, what to wear? What to wear!

As if choosing what to wear each morning isn’t hard enough! What in the world do you wear to your photo shoot? No worries. The goal of a good photographer is to capture you and your emotions – not your clothing. This being said, you want to look your best. So, follow these five rules for flawless-looking photos:

  1. Don’t be a busy body. Your photo is no time for frills, plaids, logos, stripes or checks. Choose a shirt that lets your face be the hero of the shot. If it’s winter, consider a turtleneck, which offers flattery without the frump.
  2. Don’t let your colors take center stage. Reds and oranges can overpower you, while yellows and tans can wash you out. Instead, consider darker colors if we’re shooting against a dark background. Denim, pastels and whites are right for shooting outside.
  3. Don’t be afraid to mix it up. Grab a collared shirt and throw your favorite sweater over it. Bring along your favorite pashmina. Pops of color over white will add interest to your photos without overpowering your face.
  4. Don’t short yourself. It’s best to avoid short sleeves and shorts in a photo. These items offer up too much skin, which ultimately takes the focal point away from your face.
  5. It’s all about comfort. When it comes down to it, the more comfortable you are, the more relaxed you’ll be. And the more relaxed you are, the more fabulous you’ll look. And, for me this is what our time together is all about!

WORKING ON SOMETHING BIG!!

For the last 3 weeks, I have been working my fingers to the bone.  New website, logo, blog and FB page coming soon.  I have my team working hard on this for me. Social media is where I need to be to reach out and let you know I am here.  Working on my packages for the summer and fun contest to win a free session, photos or Jaz wear.  In the meantime, drop me a line or call me if you are interested in a photo session, event, fun family or a small garden wedding.
